There is a great group show happening down at Soap Gallery, curated by Andy Vogt and Sarah Smith. A bunch of talented folks working in sculpture, collage and drawing. I published the second edition of No.10 for the exhibit.

Pulling out all the stops for this one. New drawings, new shirts given away the nite of the opening, plus a window installation. Gonna be a lot of fun - don't miss.

HIGH LIFE UPDATE
PRESS:
artpractical.com/shotgun_review/high_life

Two thoughts. The first is from Art Practical's website: Shotgun Reviews are an open forum where the broader community is invited to contribute reviews and commentary.

Second thought: it has become the trademark of lazy and cynical writing to label everything in sight as 'hipster' this or that. You gotta dig deeper.

p.s. There were some follow-ups to this review which resulted in Art Practical expanding their editoral poilcy to include a Letters to the Editor section. Read the response to the review..

    100 RECORDS
Sonny Smith @ Gallery 16, San Francisco

The musician Sonny Smith put together a pretty fantastic group show based on 100 different fictional bands. For each one of these bands he creates two songs, and an artist creates a 45 RPM record for the band. This show is travelling on to NYC.

BIGGITY-O!
I have made the move to Oakland! My studio is back up and running and is much much warmer than the previous studio. Hopefully that'll be good for getting in and working at night.

Best wishes for 2010. KK

POSTCARD SHOW
Looking forward to participating in The LAB gallery's annual Postcard Show. Stop by and check out a great collection of small work. Opens on Friday, December 4th, from 6-9pm. Work is priced to sell - from $1 to $50. Lots of fun.

ON THE MOVE
The studio is pretty damn cold right now. But some nights the space heater gets cranked up and I work out here anyhow.

In other news, I will soon be saying goodbye to this studio as I am moving to Oakland. After 2 years working here, and 13 of living in San Francisco, I am looking forward to seeing something fresh when walking out the front door. As well, the East Bay's relatively flat streets are calling out to my bicycle. I hope to be driving less in 2010.

MARJORIE WOOD GALLERY
I have collorated with the poet Ingrid Keir, contrubuting some new ink paintings. Both the words and images center around the apartment that we share. See the drawings in larger form or visit the original online exhibit.

> Spring 2009

    WELCOME
Spring is on us, and studio renovations are finished. I spent some time in Thailand over the New Year's holiday and saw a lot of brilliant graphic work - tshirts, fabric patterning, tour buses, at the malls. So I have returned feeling inspired and with the intention of putting that visual momentum in to the studio.

> Fall 2008

So.. a little bit of renovation going on in my lovely detached garage that doubles as studio & hide-out. Not too far from the fridge in case I need reinforcements.

The back part of the studio leaks when it rains, but thats ok cause I just keep that space clear. Besides the slugs like the moisture and I like the silvery trails they leave behind on the walls.

Been going through a few months of making work and then wrapping and putting it away in a drawer. Now those drawings are beginning to emerge. I am looking forwrd to some surprises.

Would you like to see some new work? Yer invited. We’ll drink some beer. I’ll play you some music. It's chilly most days - bring a sweater. email me: hello@kyleknobel.com
