iphone app & website (09)
services: mobile interface and website design, branding
client: Yummy Melon Software
I finished up 2009 by collaborating with Yummy
Melon on an iphone app and supporting website.
They had a great
concept - create an app that lets your peeps know where you are, at the
touch
of
a button (via text message, Facebook, emaiI, or Twitter). I jumped in
as an interface designer
for the app and stuck around to give direction
on their company branding and website launch.
I worked as an in-house designer
for
5
years for UCSF. Our small team affords the wearing of multiple
hats and an involvement in many types of projects. In some campaigns I might
design a print component,
a website, and Flash banner ads. Creating multi-platform concepts
gives me a unique
ability to craft
multiple element that come together to tell a story. Here are
some
selected
design
and
concept solutions.
This ad ran as a series on the inside of intercampus
shuttles. The goal was to make riders reconsider
the function of on-campus event centers, with a focus on renting space during
off-hour and
weekend hours. Primary target audience being those with children who would rent
space for parties.
Original dimensions for poster is 30 x 12 inches.
This ad campaign was a series of posters, sized
30 x 40 inches. The goal was to
make
students, faculty and staff rethink the cultural events taking place on campus.
The use of
young teens conveys a sence of excitement and freshness. The tag line,
"See the
world with
new eyes" is combined with a frank gaze, giving the viewer
pause
to consider their own
perceptions about their surroundings.
This annual promotional calendar is a collaborative
design process where staff are
invited to submit
photos and multiple designers are working in tandem to fulfill
monthly
layout and image selection.
A lot of fun.
I had wanted to work with Marcos for a long
time, after having been such a fan of his music. The
timing finally synched
up and we have begun working on a website. I was super psyched to work
with Marcos' long time collaborator and designer Ashley Rurpecht who
helped to guide our
vision
and greatly contributed
on the initial concepting. The Flash animation, as well as a current
schedule of events functions online, as the rest of the site
comes together. The website:

I teamed up with a great group of film makers on
this music video project. Shot on a feather
weight budget and a lot of
heart, this video is currently running in various independant film festivals.
Complete with f%cking rabbits, magic gardens & boobies.
A little something for everyone.
Shot
on the RED camera.
Over this new years holiday I was honeymooning
in
Thailand. Yesss. The physical distance gave
some time to think about the election
and about
this moment in US history. I
was inspired to create
my own Obama images.
I teamed up with Tyche Films to produce this opening
segment for a pilot pitch. Basic concept
behind the show is to go on the
road to discover funny people and give them a crack at becoming
professional
stand up comedians. Those chosen are given the
chance to compete for title
of
Unknown
Comic.
A full identity package for a commercial and film
director.
Mathias is a funny guy. His bent
towards
the more ridiculous side made for a great working environment. I camped
out on his couch in LA
while we worked on this. He knows the best Thai food spots.
We
used
stills straight from the film.

I
wanted to do some projects that were experiment based, that could be made quickly,
and could
work out some ideas that had been floating around in my head for a
while. The goal that I set was to
make them during my lunch breaks. Shot with
a
simple
point-and-shoot
still
camera. Soundtracks,
in order of appearance: Thee Oh Sees, Link Wray, and Wu Tang.
I got a crack at editing this spec commercial, which
was a lot of fun. Beatifully shot on film in Los
Angeles.
Includes a host of funny characters and a nice stunt role down two
flights of
concrete stairs.
